Week of September 29th

Dear Parent/s,

I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful weekend! It looks like we are going to have the perfect day for our field trip to Highland Orchards tomorrow! Here are this weeks reminders:

- For our field trip: students are to wear their gym uniforms (please dress appropriately for the weather and make sure all outerwear is labeled). Please also pack a bagged lunch for your child. No glass bottles and no morning snack will be needed. If your child ordered hot lunch for Monday it will be sent home.

- Tests will be sent home Monday in Home Folders. Please sign and return them on Tuesday. Thanks!

- We will be having our first reading and phonics test this week, so please be sure to review your child's "R" copybook with them each night. Children will also be tested on all 18 Magic Words that we have learned so far.

- First in Math logins (I promise) will be given out by Tuesday at the latest!

- There will be a Religion test on Chapter 2 on Friday.

- Rosaries are due this Monday, September 29th.

- The Star Student schedule will be sent home Monday as well and we will begin the week of 10/6.

I think that is it for this week!

Happy October :)

Religion
We will finish up Chapter 2 and have our second test on Friday.

Reading
We will be doing the same story, "Curious George at School" this week and have our first reading test. Students should be familiar with the story. I will make sure they bring home their readers to review at home.
We will also have our first Phonics quiz on the short vowel sounds of a, i, and o. Please be sure to review "R" copybooks.
We will continue to work with verbs.

Math
This week we will begin our unit on addition. We will learn about addition symbols, addition vocabulary (addends and sum), and how to write addition sentences. We will also begin to make our addition fact flashcards which should be studied every night.
