Week of 5/29

Mr. Downs was our last Mystery Reader of the year! Thanks for coming in!

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone enjoyed the long holiday weekend! I am sure we are all ready for summer! Can you believe this is our last week of full days?! This week we will be finishing up the curriculum and we will begin preparing for our final exams next week. Here are your reminders:

- Study guides for the math and religion exam, along with the exam schedule we sent home last week.  The study guides that were sent home are to be worked on and are to stay home. We will complete a separate set in school this week. If you have any questions about them please let me know.

- Donuts with Dudes will be next Tuesday, June 6th at 8:30am on the playground (cafeteria if the weather does not cooperate)! More information will be sent home this week.

- There will be a Dress Down day on Friday. Please send in $1.00 to dress down.

Week of 5/22

Dear Parents,

We have an exciting week with our Mass on Thursday! I hope you all can make it to celebrate Ascension Thursday with us. The kids have been working really hard and are very excited. Here are some reminders for the this week:

- First grade monthly Mass on Thursday at 9:00 am.

- This will be our last week of homework! Please continue to have your child read for 15 minutes each night and play on First in Math.

- An exam schedule will be sent home this week along with study guides. We will be reviewing them in school but they should also be reviewed at home.

- Last week's spelling and reading tests will be posted on MSP this week. They will not be sent home. If you would like to see either test please email me and let me know. Thanks!

- No school on Friday, 5/26 or Monday, 5/29. Hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend!

- Reminder that Doughnuts with Dudes will be Tuesday, June 6th at 8:30 am. Each child is asked to invite a special "dude" (dad, uncle, grandfather etc.) to join us for coffee and doughnuts that morning.  More information will sent home in the coming weeks.

A Peek at Our Week!

Religion
We will continue Chapter 17 "The Church Welcomes New Members" this week.

Reading
We will be reading books and completing book reports. We will also be reviewing phonics skills for the upcoming exam.

Math
We will be working with shapes this week. We will learn what polygons are and also learn the difference between 2D and 3D shapes. Students should be able to identify squares, rectangles, circles, triangles, pentagons, hexagons, octagons, and trapezoids.

Dear Parents,

I hope all of had a wonderful weekend and that all of the moms enjoyed their special day yesterday. Welcome to the last full week of the school year! I can't believe how fast this year has flown by. We will finish up our final story of the year this week and then begin to study and review for exams. Information about the exams will be sent home next week. Here are the reminders for the week:

- The first grade Mass will be next Thursday, May 25th at 9:00 am. We hope that you all can join us! Readers and cantors for the Mass will be picked out of a hat this week and I will email you to let you know if your child has been chosen.

- There will be a test on measurement this Thursday.

- There will be a reading and a spelling test on Friday.

Week of 5/8

Dear Parents,

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! Another busy week here as we approach the end of the school year. Here are your reminders:

- The May Procession will be on Wednesday night. Please have your child at school no later than 6:40pm. Girls will report to Miss Panaro's room and boys to Mrs. Thornton's room.  They should be dressed in their winter uniform. If you could send your child with set a rosaries too it would be greatly appreciated. After we process out of Church, you can pick up your child from me at the front of the school. A section will be blocked off for kindergarten and first grade. Thank you for your help with this!

- We will have a Religion test on Friday on Chapter 16. Students will also have to name the 7 sacraments. We've been talking about them a lot at school so please be sure to review at home as well.

Dear Parents,

Happy May! The rest of the year is going to fly by. Please make sure you have your calendars marked for the May Procession, the First Grade Mass and Doughnuts with Dudes. Here are your reminders for the week:

- We will have a spelling and reading test this Friday.

- Next Wednesday, May 10th at 7:00pm is the May Procession. Students need to wear their winter uniform so please make sure you have it ready to go!

- We have been practicing our "timed math" to get ready for second grade. Please make sure you continue to study math facts at home with your child. There are tons of games and apps that students can practice with.
