Week of 1/16

Mr. McGrath came in and read to us last week!

Dear Parents,

I hope you had a nice long weekend. Thank you to those of you who donated and volunteered for yesterday's Day of Service. We will talk about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. today in school.

At this point in the year is when I start giving the students more independence to complete their work. They will start reading directions and completing workbook pages, worksheets and activities by themselves. For tests, I will only be reading the questions from now on. They will read the answers by themselves. It is important for them to become "self-starters" and gain the confidence to complete tasks by themselves. It would be great if you could reinforce this at home with homework. Of course, if they need help, help them, but make sure they try to read the directions or questions and figure it out by themselves first. The more independent they become the better off they will be.

Here are your reminders for this week:

- SKS will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart with the American Heart Association. Information about the program will be sent home today.

- Test folders will be sent home today. Please sign and return tomorrow.

-Wednesday is a Dress Down Day for the Travis Manion Foundation. Please send in $1.00 to dress down.

- On Wednesday, we will have Health Screenings. Nurse Skilton sent an email out last week explaining this.

- There will be a Chapter 9 Religion test on Friday.

That is all for now! Have a great week!
