Week of 11/18

Congrats to our Peacemaker, Greta!

Dear Parents,

The kids were absolutely AWESOME at the Talent Show last week! Thank you to all the parents who helped out with the acts and for including the entire grade!

This week we will start our next reading unit. We will now have 12 Magic Words to learn each week. We will continue to have 10 spelling words but they will be getting a little harder because we will be learning long vowel and the different patterns for each one. Please keep studying a little bit each night.

Here are your reminders for the week:

- Test folders will be sent home tomorrow or Wedensday. Please sign and return.

- There will be a Religion test on Chapter 5 on Friday. A study guide will be sent home today.

- If you have any extra Halloween candy that you want to donate to the homeless please send it in this week!

Have a great week!

Week of 11/11

Dear Parents,

Happy Veteran's Day! Today talked about how lucky we are to live in a country where our loved ones volunteer and risk their lives to protect each of us.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to meet with me at conferences. Communication between the teacher and parents is crucial to the success of your child and I appreciate you giving up your time.
The kids have already grown so much since September and it is exciting to see their reading skills develop and grow. We will start learning long vowel patterns next week when we start a new reading unit! Here are your reminders for the week:

- There will be a short math test tomorrow on adding 3 numbers and related facts. A study guide will be sent home today.

- Our Monthly Mass for November will be on Wednesday at 9:00 am. All are welcome!

- On Wednesday, we will also be filling the shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. A flyer was sent home last week with ideas of what to buy. Please send those in by Wednesday. Thanks for your support!

- There will be a Reading test and a Spelling test on Friday.

- On Friday, we will go over to the gym and watch the dress rehearsal of SKS Got Talent. Parents are welcome to come watch too!

Have a great week!

Week of 11/4

Dear Parents,

We had so much fun on our field trip last week and at the Halloween-a-thon! I hope you all enjoyed Friday off and the extra hour of sleep...I know I needed it! Here are your reminders for the week:

- We will start the last story in our first reading unit this week! Please continue to study all old and new Magic Words!

- I need Mystery Readers for tomorrow, 11/5 and for Tuesday, 11/12 at 2:00 pm. If you are available please let me know! I also just got word that you do NOT need to have your clearances to read. So if a grandparent, aunt, uncle etc would like to come in that would be great too! Hopefully each student will have someone come read. If Tuesday afternoons do not work for you let me know and we will work it out!

- There will be a Religion test of Chapter 4 on Thursday. A study guide will be sent home today.

- No school on Friday due to Parent/Teacher conferences. I look forward to meeting with all of you!

That is it for now!
