Monday, 3/23

Reading:

1. Journal: In your HW copybook or on a piece of paper complete the journal entry: What is one fun thing you have done with your family while being at home? Use the starter: "One fun thing I have done with my family is..."
    1. Write the date at the top of the page: March 23, 2020
    2. Write your answer using neat handwriting, uppercase letters and punctuation marks.
    3. Read your entry to an adult or older sibling and fix any mistakes.
    4. Illustrate your entry with a colorful picture.

2. Magic Words: Watch this VIDEO to see your new Magic Words for the week. After the video, copy the words on index cards (or paper if you don't have them) and review them. After your are finished put them in your Magic Word envelope.

4. Read for 15 minutes


Math

1. Play this GAME to learn about coins! * I believe this might only work on a laptop or computer. If you want to play on the a tablet you will need to sign up for free! It will go through what all the coins look like and then have you sort them by how much they are worth! Feel free to play this during the entire week to practice!

** use hundreds chart at the end of the packet to help count by 5s and 10s if you are having trouble


Religion

1. Special Intentions - we do this before every Religion class. Each child says their special intentions they want to pray for that day. We end with a Hail Mary or Our Father.

2. Chapter 16 - "We Celebrate the Sacraments" read page 184-185. Discuss how Jesus celebrated God's love.

Tuesday, 3/24
Class meeting on Zoom at 11:00 am

Reading

1. Watch my VIDEO to learn your Spelling words for the week! 
      - Get your "Practice Spelling Test" worksheet ready to take your practice test that I will give on the video!

2. Complete "Spin and Write" - use a pencil to hold the paper clip and spin it to land on a word. Write the words in the correct box. Complete until all boxes are filled!
    
3. Reading workbook page 33

4. Read "Where Food Comes From" with ME AND MY SPECIAL GUEST HERE!

5. Read for 15 minutes


Math

1. Play this GAME to keep practicing identifying and sorting coins by how much they are worth!
Another game to practice

2. Watch this VIDEO to
      - Complete "Penny and Nickel Count" worksheet.  
   **Remember to always start counting with the coin that is worth the most!
   ** use hundreds chart at the end of the packet to help count by 5s and 10s if you are having trouble

3. Big Book pages 353-354


Religion

2. Complete "Wiggle Spelling" - write the word as many times as you can on the wiggly line!
    
3. Reading workbook page 34

4. Read "Where Food Comes From" by yourself or with me and Jordan again!
     - Complete Reading workbook page 38 (see below for guidance if you need it)
 

5. Read for 15 minutes

     - Complete skinny math book page 104 to review complete counting nickels and pennies.
    - Learn how count dimes and pennies

Thursday, 3/26
Class meeting on Zoom at 11:00 am

Reading

1. Review Magic Words and Spelling Words

2. Go to https://www.ixl.com/ and login.  (Feel free to use this website/app and the login to practice other skills too!)
     - Username: sfaschool  Password: sfarocks
     - Click "Learning" tab
     - Click "Language Arts" tab
     - Click on "First Grade"
     - Play "M.2" Match the short a and long words to pictures until you reach a score of 100.

3. "Interactive Notebook Page" with contractions. Watch this VIDEO and we will review how to do "contraction surgery" and how to complete the interactive notebook page. You will need your HW copybook (or a piece of paper), scissors and a glue stick!

4. Read "Where Food Comes From" by yourself or with me and Jordan again!
     - Complete Reading workbook page 39 (see below for guidance if you need it)
 

5. Read for 15 minutes

2. Read page 190-191 "The Church Celebrate 7 Sacraments" 

    - Watch this video on the 7 sacraments. Please let them know that this video was made for 2nd graders so it says they will receive Eucharist and Penance “this year.” At SKS they will receive Penance in 2nd grade and Eucharist in 3rd.
- Read pages 190 and 191. Discuss the 7 sacraments and how we receive the sacraments at different times in our lives. (Please note that this is just an overview of the 7 Sacraments. We will explore some of the sacraments further in later chapters.)

    1. Write the date at the top of the page: March 27, 2020
    2. Write your answer using neat handwriting, uppercase letters and punctuation marks.
    3. Read your entry to an adult or older sibling and fix any mistakes.
    4. Illustrate your entry with a colorful picture.
* If you would like to send me a picture of this or send me a video of you reading your journal I would LOVE it!! Don't worry if you can't!

3. Complete "Color My Words" - start at the first word and roll a dice to see which color to color it. Move to the next word and do the same.
