Week of February 16th

Dear Parent/s,

I hope everyone enjoyed the extra long weekend! We have a short week so I will keep the blog short as well!

Here our some reminders:

- We will celebrate Ash Wednesday with Mass at 9:00 am.

- We will also begin going to Stations of the Cross once a week. They will not be every Friday like they used to. We will go on Thursday at 1:45 pm this week.

- Due to the snow day I will not be giving a spelling or reading test this week. Next week we will take the Unit 2 Benchmark test which will review all of the skills we have learned throughout the unit.

- Just a heads up..Terra Nova testing will be in March so we will begin doing some review each week in class.

Religion

This week we will learn about Lent and how it prepares us for Easter.

Reading

Story: A Cupcake Party

Target Skill: Story Structure

Phonics Skill: short u and final blends -ft, -st, -sp, -nt, -nd, -mp, -sk, we will also work with long u

Grammar Skill: using a, an, the, working with synonyms
Spelling words: us, sun, but, fun, bus, run, eat, give, one, put, some, take
    

Math

We will continue working with place value this week. Specifically with ones and tens.

We will continue to do timed math, however the amount of time to complete the 60 problems will go down. Please make sure your child is studying their facts each night. There are a ton of apps and websites that they can used to practice!
