Week of March 23rd

Dear Parent/s,

I was SO impressed with all of the creativity and hard work that the kids out in to their leprechaun traps! It is always so neat to see how differently each child's mind works. Thank you for all of your help with the project. We really had a fun time with it in school!

This week we will be taking the Terra Nova tests in the morning. Our afternoons will consist of review work and some fun Easter activities! Please be sure your child is on a good routine this week with bedtime and that they eat a healthy breakfast before they come to school. If you have not sent in your letter of encouragement please do so by Tuesday.

Here are a few reminders:

- Please be sure your child is prepared with three #2 pencils each day and that they have an eraser.

- There will be no homework or tests this week :)

- I am sending home tests today. Please sign and return them tomorrow.

- Remember the Fashion Show was rescheduled for this Wednesday.

- This week if your child brings in a healthy snack for morning recess (fruit or vegetable) they will be entered to win a gift card to So Fun Yogurt
.

Dear Parent/s,

This week we will celebrate St. Patrick's Day with our leprechaun traps! Please send them in tomorrow. Students may accessorize their school uniforms with green to celebrate. If you would like to come look at the traps feel free to stop by after 2:15 pm.  Here are a few reminders:

- The third trimester begins today.

- Report Cards will be given out Tuesday. If you have any questions/concerns or would like to meet please don't hesitate to email me.

- We will take the spelling and reading test for "At Home in the Ocean" on Friday.

- I will send home a schedule of the Terra Nova tests that we will be taking next week.

Week of March 9th

Dear Parent/s,

I hope every enjoyed the long weekend! Let's hope that was the last storm we will see this year! Today we will be making up the tests from last week so I can get them into GradeConnect for the 2nd Trimester report cards. Today begins our last trimester. Where did the year go?! There is not too much going on this week, but here are a few reminders:

- Third trimester begins today.

- We will continue with Terra Nova review. The TN will be taken the week of 3/23.

- Leprechaun Trap projects due Tuesday, March 17th.

- There will be a reading and spelling test on "At Home in the Ocean" on Friday.

- Dress Down Day on Friday. Please send in $1.00 to dress down.

Week of March 2nd

Dear Parent/s,

Can you believe it is March already?! We will really be focusing on memorizing math facts and reading with accuracy and fluency for the next few months. Please be sure to be practicing these things at home each night. We will finish making our subtraction flash cards this week. Here are your reminders for the week:

- We will celebrate our month mass on Tuesday at 9:00. Please come join us!

- Thursday we will have a math test on place value and 10 more/less and 1 more/less.

- Friday we will have a spelling test on some commonly used sight words (list posted below) and the Chapter 11 Religion test.

- The second trimester ends on Friday.

- Tests will be sent home today. Please sign and return them tomorrow. If you have any questions please let me know.

- A St. Patrick's Day project was sent home today and will be do Tuesday, March 17th. I told the students that they can work with another student if they want! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Week of February 16th

I hope everyone enjoyed the extra long weekend! We have a short week so I will keep the blog short as well!

Here our some reminders:

- We will celebrate Ash Wednesday with Mass at 9:00 am.

- We will also begin going to Stations of the Cross once a week. They will not be every Friday like they used to. We will go on Thursday at 1:45 pm this week.

- Due to the snow day I will not be giving a spelling or reading test this week. Next week we will take the Unit 2 Benchmark test which will review all of the skills we have learned throughout the unit.

- Just a heads up..Terra Nova testing will be in March so we will begin doing some review each week in class.

Week of February 9th

Dear Parent/s,

It was so nice to meet all of the grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and other special friends last Wednesday. It was a special day that I am sure no one will forget! Check out the pictures below.

Here are the reminders for this week:

- I am sending some tests home today. Please sign and return them tomorrow.

- There will be a Home and School meeting on Tuesday night at 7:00pm. A dress down pass will be awarded to the class with the highest attendance! There will be some great speakers so if you can attend please do.

- We will be visiting the 8th Grade Business Day on Wednesday. If you would like to send your child with a few dollars (I think $5-10 would be more than enough) so they can buy something that would be great, but it is not required. All proceeds will be donated to a charity of the 8th grades choice.

- We will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Friday. A special thank you to Mrs. Sharkey and Mrs. Doyle for setting this up! We will be making bags prior to the party for valentines to be put in. Please make sure that your child makes a valentine for every person in the class and don't forget we welcomed our new student Stella Scott, in January! If you need a class list please let me know.

- The first grade won a dress down day back in November! We have decided to use it on Friday for the party!

- We will be having our second "Share and Teach" on Thursday. Students may bring in one special item (needs to fit in their schoolbag) and need to be prepared to tell the class three things about it. It would be great to practice a few times at home before Thursday.

- We will have a Religion test on Chapter 10 on Friday. A review sheet will be sent home this week.
