Week of 1/30

Dear Parents,

Happy Catholic Schools Week! We have a fun week planned with lots of activities! You can find all the information you need below. Valentine's Day information is also posted below!

- Test folders will be sent home tomorrow. Please sign and return on Wednesday.

- There will be a spelling and reading test on Friday this week.

- Dismissal is at 12:00 pm on Friday!

- Some special Catholic Schools Week notes:

                  *Send in canned goods and coats all week!

                  Monday (1/30) - dress down (no charge) in orange

                  Tuesday (1/31) - Crazy 8's Day - accessorize your school uniform with 8 items (shoes, jewelry, socks, hats, sunglasses etc)!

                  Wednesday (2/1) - Beach theme day! Dress in your best beach gear! Please so bathing suits.

                  Thursday (2/2) - Hero Day - dress as your favorite hero!

                  Friday (2/3) - Blue and White Spirit Day! Dismissal at 12:00 pm. 

Valentine's Day info:

     - please have all valentines sent to school no later than Friday, February 10th.  Small gifts are fine but please no candy!

             

Homework

- There will be no written homework this week! Please just review for the reading and spelling test and read for 10-15 minutes each night

We will start Chapter 10 "Jesus Sends the Holy Spirit." 

Reading

Story: "The Big Race"

Target Skill: Cause and Effect

Phonics Skill: Long O and soft c, g, dge

Grammar: Verbs and time

Magic Words: four, five, into, over, starts, three, two, watch, where, those, saw, round

Spelling Words: rose, hope, cone, home, low, slow, coat, road

Math

We will continue practicing skip counting by 10s, 5s and 2s! We will focus on counting backwards this week and also start learning about odd and even numbers.
