Week of 2/28

Last week we made our own models of the moon!


Dear Parents,

Can you believe it is March? This week we will be working hard reviewing long vowels, learning about money and preparing for the Terra Nova tests which will be taken next week. A schedule and a few tips will be sent home this week.  

Here are the reminders for this week:

- If you did not send in coins with your child, please do so ASAP! (4 quarters, 10 dimes, 20 nickels and 25 pennies).

- Test folders will be sent home Tuesday. Please sign and return on Wednesday!

- We will celebrate Ash Wednesday with Mass at 9:00am. All are welcome to join!

- There will be a Reading and Spelling test on Friday.

- Don't forget to have your child look up some leprechaun traps and start gathering the materials that they will need to build their own the week of 3/14.

We will begin our unit on money this week! We will learn to identify the coins and how much they are worth and practice counting. If you practice at home remember to start counting with the coins and that are worth the most!

Week of 2/21

Dear Parents,

I hope you all had a great holiday weekend! Can you believe we celebrated our 100th day of school last week?! This year is just flying by. This week we will start our next unit in reading. A new Reader's Notebook will be going home for homework for this week. Here are the rest of the reminders:

- We will start a new unit in reading! A new Reader's Notebook will be sent home today. 

- We will have a test in math on Friday on double digit addition and subtraction (no regrouping) and math facts with sums to 20. A review sheet will be sent home as homework on Thursday.

- We will have a Religion test on Chapter 11 on Friday. A study guide will be sent home today.

- We will be starting our unit on money next week. If you could send in a ziplock bag labeled with your child's name with 4 quarters, 10 dimes, 20 nickels and 25 pennies that would be really helpful! Thank you!

- For the next few weeks we will also be preparing and reviewing for the Terra Nova test which will be taken the week of March 7th.

- Be on the look out this week for some information on Leprechaun Traps! We will be building them in school during the week of March 14th! The kids just need to collect supplies at home and bring them in that week. The information will give you plenty of ideas!

Week of 2/14

Our Valentine's Day puppies tell different ways that we spread love!


Dear Parents,

Happy Valentine's Day! We will finish up the last story in our reader this week! We will start a new unit and get a new workbook next week. We will also be starting a new math unit this week and practice adding and subtracting sums and differences under 20. Here are the rest of your reminders for the week:

- Dress down day on Tuesday! Please bring in $1.00.

- Please join us in the Church or virtually tomorrow night for the Home and School Meeting. Sr. Pat is a great speaker!

- Test folders will be sent home tomorrow. Please sign and return on Wednesday.

- We will have a reading and spelling test on Thursday.

- No school on Friday or Monday! Enjoy the long holiday weekend!

We had a great time during Catholic School Week! Thank you for all of your donations! You can check out some pictures below from the week. There are a few reminders for this week:

Valentine's Day info:

     - please have all valentines sent to school no later than Friday, February 11th.  We will be decorating bags for the valentines! There 20 students in our class!

     No candy is permitted

- There will be a math test on skip counting and even and odd numbers on Thursday.

- There will be Religion test on Chapter 10 on Friday. A study guide will be sent home today.

                  Friday (2/4) - Pajama Day! Dismissal at 12:00 pm.

Week of 1/24

Dear Parents,

The kids have been doing really well with memorizing the long vowel patterns and spelling words. I know these words are harder and trickier but the kids have been finding the different patterns we have learned so far everywhere! We have another full we before Catholic Schools Week starts on Sunday. Look below for an outline of what to expect! Here are the reminders for the week:

- If you have not been a Mystery Reader yet, please be sure to sign up this week! Next week, I will open it up to sign up a second time for the remaining slots!

- We will have a math test on 10 more/less and 1 more/less on Tuesday. A review will be sent home for homework tonight.

- If you would like to send in rosary beads for your child, please do so. We will start saying a decade of the rosary every Friday as a class.

- We will have a Religion test on Chapter 9 on Friday. A study guide was sent home today.

- You can send in your MLK Bags of Service this and next week and any shampoo donations. Thank you!

Catholic Schools Week begins at Mass on Sunday! Be on the look out for an email with more detailed information about the Virtual Talent Show, SKS Spirit Family Pics and Art Activity!

Dear Parents,

I hope you had a nice long weekend! Last week we talked about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and why he is an important part of history and a great role model! 

- The MLK Bags of Service can be picked up this week! They will be collected during Catholic Schools Week (January 31st-February 4th). First grade has also been asked to donate shampoo! Thanks in advance for your help with this.

- Test folders will be sent home tomorrow. Please sign and return on Thursday. 

- Our Monthly Mass will be this Thursday at 9:00 am. Please join us in person or virtually.

- We will have a reading and spelling test this Friday on the story and words for "Seasons".
