Week of 5/21


Dear Parents,

We are in the home stretch! This week and next week we will be reviewing for exams. Here are your reminders:

- This will be our last week of homework! Please continue to have your child read for 15 minutes each night and play on First in Math or Reading Eggs.

- Wednesday is our annual May Procession. Students are to wear their winter uniforms. The kids need to be in our classroom no later than 6:40 pm and can be picked up by the front doors of the school. In the event of rain, we will meet and be dismissed from the Church. Please let me know if you have any questions.

- An exam schedule will be sent home this week along with study guides. We will be reviewing them in school but they should also be reviewed at home.

- We will have a Religion test on Chapter 19 on Thursday. A studyguide will be sent home.

- Last week's spelling and reading tests are posted on Option C. They will not be sent home. If you would like to see either test please email me and let me know. The Religion test will also be posted Thursday. Thanks!

- No school on Friday, 5/25 or Monday, 5/28. Hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend!

- Reminder that Doughnuts with Dudes will be Tuesday, June 5th at 8:30 am in the cafeteria. Each child is asked to invite a special "dude" (dad, uncle, grandfather etc.) to join us for coffee and doughnuts that morning.  More information will sent home in the coming weeks.

A Peek at Our Week!

Religion
We will continue Chapter 19 "The Church Forgives" and have a test on Thursday.

Reading
We will be reading books and completing book reports. We will also be reviewing phonics skills for the upcoming exam.

Math
We will be working with shapes this week. We will learn what polygons are and also learn the difference between 2D and 3D shapes. Students should be able to identify squares, rectangles, circles, triangles, pentagons, hexagons, octagons, and trapezoids.

Week of 5/14

Mrs. Schoettler and Reagan read us some funny stories last week!

Dear Parents,

I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend and that all moms enjoyed their special day yesterday. Welcome to the last full week of full days this year! I can't believe how fast this year has flown by. We will finish up our final story of the year this week and then begin to study and review for exams. Information about the exams will be sent home next week. Here are some reminders:

- We received more than enough donations to cover the cost of flowers that were sent to the Lively family. We would like to use the extra money to put something in the Grotto in Erin's memory. If you did not donate and would like to, kindly send your donation in by Friday. Thanks for your support.

- There will be a test on measurement tomorrow.

- Test folders will be sent home tomorrow. Please sign and return on Thursday.

- There will be a reading and a spelling test on Friday.

- A reminder that May Procession is next Wednesday at 7:00 pm. Students need to wear their winter uniforms. More information will be on the blog next week about meeting time and pick up.

- Doughnuts with Dads/Dudes will be on June 5 at 8:30 am in the cafeteria.

Week of 5/7

Mrs. McCracken surprised us last week to read!

Dear Parents,

First, I would like to thank all of you for the love, support and kind words to my family as we celebrated the life of my beautiful grandmother over the weekend. The flowers from the first grade were beautiful. My Dad and I are truly blessed to work in such a loving and supportive community. We can't thank you enough.

This week we will be busy starting a new story and preparing for our Mass on Ascension Thursday. I hope to see you all there! Here the reminders for the week:

- If you would like to order the summer reading book through school, orders are due tomorrow.

- Be sure to ask your children about our tower garden. We have been learning about seeds and plants and I am sure they will tell you all about it! Check out the pictures below!

- Please join us to celebrate the Ascension of our Lord on Thursday at 9:00 am.

- Chapter 18 Religion test on Friday. A study guide will be sent home.

- Mark down these dates:

I can't believe we start the month of May tomorrow! The rest of the year is going to fly by! Here are the reminders for this week:

- A book order form regarding summer reading will be sent home today. The entire school will be reading the same book this summer. If you would like to order the book through school, please send the form with cash or check by Tuesday, May 8th. Thanks!

I hope you are finally enjoying the Spring weather that has finally arrived! This week we will be busy  celebrating Earth Day and starting up the First Grade Indoor Garden. On a bittersweet note, we will also be saying goodbye and good luck to our student teacher, Miss Williams. She has done a great job and I know the kids will miss her! Here are the rest of the reminders for the week:

- Religion test on Chapter 17 on Friday.  A study guide will be sent home today.

Week of 4/9/18

Dear Parents,

- Spring uniforms start today! Please make sure all sweatshirts and coats etc. are labeled with your child's name. Don't forget that the kids will need to wear their winter uniform for the May Procession on Wednesday, May 23rd.

- The first grade will be selling popsicles for $1.00 this week to help raise money for our indoor garden! Thanks for your support!

- Test folders will be sent home tomorrow. Please sign and return them on Wednesday.

- Religion test on Chapter 16 on Thursday. A study guide will be sent home. The kids will need to be able to name all seven sacraments.

- Math test on money (identifying coins and their worth, counting change up to $1.00) on Friday.

- Don'f forget to check out the SKS Shoppes on Thursday night and Friday during the day!

- Our Monthly Mass will be this Friday at 9:00 am. Hope to see you there!
